Favor is a venture created by UBC graduates with the mission to democratize access to affordable, high quality and impartial financial planning and advice.
We are developing a software solution that empowers planners and advisors to better understand clients’ financial behaviours and habits, simplify the onboarding process, and deliver an interactive, modern experience through a web-based client front-end.
We are radically transparent, we empower everyone with information and knowledge to make things happen.
We won't hold your hand. However, we will provide you with the resources, opportunities and help to succeed.
We are looking for talented students to tackle some interesting projects alongside our team. Our opportunities are designed to give you new experiences with projects in finance technology, customer research, behavioural economics and web development.
You will be provided the opportunity to work alongside and learn from our founders, leading financial planners, and extensive team of advisors. At this time, all opportunities are flexible and part-time.
At Favor we have crafted every opportunity to ensure that you are empowered to take lead, build new skills and make an impact in the future of our venture.
We are not just another financial technology company, we are a team of curious, mission driven doers who do not take no for an answer. We're looking for people that want to fearlessly disrupt the status quo.
Our team consistently works to discover how our generation interacts with their financial selves, how we plan for the future and evaluate the options at hand. We are inspired to deliver an exceptional experience to our customers and their clients, and we want you to be part of the team that helps us reimagine that experience.
We believe in the saying, "The more you give, the more you get." How much you choose to commit is totally up to you. However, once you've chosen the time you want to commit, we'll be keeping you accountable to it.
Each opportunity is structured to take between 4 and 6 weeks. At the end of the sprint, you will be prep’d to demo your work and/or present your findings to the company, our advisors and any applicable external stakeholders.
Directly with our founders, our advisors and mentors! We are a pre-seed venture looking to attract bright, ambitious and like-minded contributors who share our passion and vision for the future of personal finance. As past UBC students themselves, our founders have experience building businesses, managing portfolios, directing nonprofits and student government, and working for large technology companies.
Although these opportunities are volunteer based, they are crafted to empower you to lead, build new skills and make an impact- giving you great experiences for your resume, additions to your portfolio, and strong references for future positions. If successful, you will be invited to experiment with different roles, and future paid internships / CO-OP terms in following semesters. You will also be introduced to other ventures and successful companies through the course of these opportunities.
You will be assigned dedicated space alongside our team, working out of the e@UBC Innovation Centre in the UBC Alumni building. As a part of an open co-working environment for entrepreneurs, you will have access to free coffee, a private fridge, a full kitchen, conference rooms and printers.
The last date to apply is Sunday, September 30th at 11:59pm.
We don’t believe in a formal interview - we’d rather get to know you over a coffee! Lets find a time.
